Florida
The sun-drenched, affordable favorite of the south
For many, Florida is the number one family vacation destination. That’s because this sunny state has more theme parks, beaches, golf courses, and other family-friendly features than anywhere else. The temperature rarely drops below 70 degrees, even during winter, making it a welcome getaway for snowbirds. And compared to other hotspots, it’s affordable—competition, lower taxes and cost of living, and more make Florida budget-friendly for visitors and homebuyers alike.
While the entire state offers a myriad of vacation home options, Central Florida and its biggest city, Orlando, “attract” a good share of attention, due to the many world-famous attractions like Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. Orlando provides a perfect market for short-term rental vacation homes, so if your vacation home buying plans include rental revenue generation, this sun-filled city is an ideal choice.
The beach is within your reach
Just a 45-minute drive from Orlando is Daytona Beach, a classic coastal favorite offering some of the most affordable oceanfront real estate in Florida. Nearby, Melbourne, Cocoa, New Smyrna and Vero Beach all feature spectacular sandy dunes, sporting and leisure options, plus shopping and dining galore. Off the calmer waters of Florida’s west coast, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, Sarasota and Fort Myers all offer picturesque coastal living. And all are easily within reach of Orlando, the heart of this popular state.
In south Florida, you’ll find exclusive locales such as West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami (and South Beach), Naples, Marco Island and the world-famous Florida Keys. North Florida offers a more temperate climate and wide open spaces, with popular cities such as Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Panama City Beach on the west side, plus historic St. Augustine and senior-haven Palm Coast on the east. While not as populated as the central and southern regions, north Florida still offers a warm southern lifestyle and plenty to do and see including beaches, golfing, retail and restaurant options, and more.
